About Our Staff

Colleen –

Colleen is originally from the Bitteroot Valley of Montana, but she has called North Carolina home since 2002. After high school, Colleen attended Montana Western and University of Montana, before having the opportunity to live and work in Alaska, Washington, DC, and Annapolis, MD. Eventually, she moved to New York, where she became a stay at home mom with her two daughters. She began working for Dr. Parsons in 2003 in a part-time position at the front desk that quickly became a full-time position. Colleen feels she has learned so much about what Dr. Parsons does as a periodontist and implantologist since she came to the practice. In addition to being the first friendly voice on the phone or the first face that our patients see when they enter our office, Colleen works hard at keeping the lines of communication open between our office and every patient’s general dentist. It makes her feel proud when a satisfied patient refers a friend or family member, or when one of our patients has returned to his/her general dentist “bragging” on the quality of care received in our office.

When not working, Colleen enjoys traveling with her husband Dennis, finding new recipes to cook for her family, or reading a good book. She is excited to see her two daughters, who are now nineteen and seventeen years old, beginning to travel and have wonderful adventures as she did at their ages.

Susan –

Susan is our newest staff member, but she is not new to the dental field. She is a CDA with anesthesia assisting certification (DAANCE) through AAOMS. She has worked over twenty-one years in dental practices. Originally, from Connecticut, she lived and worked in dentistry in Ohio prior to moving to North Carolina four years ago. She attended Cleveland Institute of Dental/Medical Assistants and Ohio State for Radiology training while working in Ohio. Her twenty-one years in the dental field encompassed fifteen years in oral surgery, four years in cosmetic dentistry and two years in endodontics. Susan takes great pride in giving the best patient care possible and is grateful to be in such a rewarding field. She truly enjoys her work!

Susan currently lives in Fort Mill, SC and has two adult children, Michael and Ryan. She enjoys playing golf, boating, attending concerts, going to the beach, taking walks, and spending time with her family and friends.

  Tobi –

Tobi has been a Dental Hygienist with Dr. Parsons since 2009. She graduated in 1998 from Tennessee State University, where she received her degree in Health Science/Dental Hygiene. Tobi was born in Japan; however, she grew up in Tennessee. Tobi has worked in general dentistry and periodontics since beginning her dental career. Prior to coming to North Carolina, Tobi was a dental hygienist in Clarksville, TN. and Cincinnati, OH. She is very passionate about dental hygiene and says her greatest reward, at the end of each day, is knowing she gave her patients the best care possible. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and has a great rapport with all her patients, but she is especially sensitive and empathetic with senior adults, which makes her a great asset to our periodontal practice.

Tobi moved to Waxhaw, NC in 2004, where she met her husband and best friend, Tom. She has an Italian greyhound named Java. Tobi's hobbies include biking, drawing or painting, and spending time with her family.

  Debbie –

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology as well as Dental Hygiene. She began her dental career in Washington, DC in 1996 in a periodontal practice. She moved to North Carolina in 2000 and began working with Dr. Parsons in 2001. With seventeen years experience in periodontal hygiene, Debbie is well qualified to meet the needs of any of our patients. She strives to provide the highest level of patient care and service in order to achieve the optimum results and periodontal health for all her patients. Debbie has served four years on the Council of Interstate Testing Agencies for Hygiene Licensure Examinations.

  Sharon –

After living in Durham, NC all her life, Sharon moved to the Charlotte area in 2010. She joined the periodontal practice of Dr. Parsons in the fall of the same year. Sharon began her dental hygiene career more than thirty years ago working in a periodontal practice and is happy to be back in such a rewarding field.

Sharon now makes her home in Fort Mill, SC. She and her husband Scott have a blended family of five children ranging from eighteen to thirty in age. They have twenty-one month old twin grandchildren that are the apples of their eyes. When not playing mom, grand mommy or hygienist, you may find Sharon at Ocean Isle beach or visiting family and friends in Durham. She and Scott enjoy walking with their dog Pepper or just hanging out together.

  Janina –

Janina is originally from Ecuador, South America. She came to the United States in 1992. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she lived in New York City where she attended La Guardia Community College and began a career in dentistry. Janina worked in general dentistry and endodontics for a total of eight years while in New York, but changed to periodontics when she came to North Carolina. She has been working with Dr. Parsons for nine years as a Dental Assistant. One of the assets Janina brings to the dental world is her desire to help our patients receive the treatment necessary to restore optimal oral heath. Also being fluent in Spanish allows our Spanish-speaking patients to feel comfortable and at ease in the office, as well as fully understand all their treatment options.

Janina is married to a wonderful man, Xavier, who is also originally from Ecuador, and they have two beautiful children, ages thirteen and six. They enjoy family outings, preparing Ecuadorian recipes for their southern friends and Janina’s co-workers, and having karaoke and dance night at home with family and friends.

  Judy –

Judy is a native of Union County and currently lives in Waxhaw, NC. She attended Wingate University at the same time her children were entering elementary school. She states this is when she really learned the art of multi-tasking. Dr. Parsons often refers to Judy as his “most senior staff member.” She came to work for Dr. Parsons in 2002 and became his office manager in 2004. She had more than 25 years experience in office management and accounting and had joined her first dental practice while living in Florida in 1997. She feels that working to help patients receive the quality treatment they deserve and seeing the wonderful results are the first priority for our practice. Also having such a great doctor and staff that truly care for our patients provides the best in a great working environment.

Judy is married with three adult children and six grandchildren. One of her favorite activities is cooking and having family time with all of her “kids.” She is very active in her church in Waxhaw where her husband, Donnie, serves as pastor. She also enjoys reading, traveling with her husband, music and singing.

  Andrea –

Andrea came to work for Dr. Parsons in 2005 as a part-time scheduling coordinator. She has lived in Union County all her life and finds she has often crossed paths with many of our patients or their family members in the past. Andrea is a graduate of UNC Greensboro with a degree in Marketing and Merchandising, but feels her career choice in the dental world has been a positive decision. She says she has learned so much about dentistry, and periodontics specifically, during her time with Dr. Parsons. Her job duties and hours have expanded through the years, but she still enjoys the interaction with our patients. Helping a patient feel “at home” in our office is a rewarding part of her job. Our patients often express to Andrea how comfortable and easy we make it for them to receive treatment in our office.

Andrea has been married for 23 years to her college sweetheart Russ, and they have three beautiful children ages, twenty, eighteen and ten. Andrea loves spending time with her family, reading, and watching her kids play sports. With a husband who referees sports events, and three very athletic kids, Andrea strives for a healthy and active lifestyle.
